VÆGTLØS
Vægtløs is a meditation on life and how we influence each other. Thems like grief, love, fatherhood, and loss are pushed to the forefront in a way to strives to create a feeling of community and celebration not just mourning.
Musically Vægtløs combine the ethereal sounds of post rock with the weight and intensity of genres like post metal, post hardcore, screamo, and black metal.
Vægtløs played their first show in June 2022, and things quickly started to gain momentum. Under a month after their first show, they were asked to support shoegaze legends Nothing. In 2023 they released their 7” Kakofoni on 18 different record labels.
The release gathered attention from national magazines, and the band played almost every national festival of relevance, including Aalborg Metal Festival, Lasher Fest, Copenhagen Metal Fest, and A Colossal Weekend (a show that was coined the top five shows ever at the festival in mayor Danish zine Devilution).
In early 2024 the band released their debut album Aftryk on 46 record labels (a world record) to rave reviews from all around the world, with a lot of zines celebrating the record as best album of 2024. Following the release of the record Vægtløs played their first shows abroad before supporting their heroes in Vi som älskade varandra så mycket and, in 2025 Deafheaven. Followed by their show at Roskilde Festival, the biggest festival in Denmark.
Vægtløs have acted as support for Deafheaven, Alcest, Vi som älskade varandra så mycket, Imperial Triumphant, Wiegedood, nothing, Car Bomb and many more.
2027 will see the release of their sophomore record. Where Aftryk revolved around death as an existential condition, the new work examines the traces we leave in each other through love, parenthood, community and responsibility in a time marked by crisis and uncertainty. The thematic focus moves from cessation towards continuity and obligation.
The band still focuses on vulnerability and the catharsis found in music.
